Todays project is one for the Home. Aren’t these Crochet Nesting baskets SO cute? Ideal for gifts too! I for one would love to receive something hand made like this filled with goodies. I’ve made use of mine in various ways around the home, from holding my Beauty essentials, to my crochet hooks. I’ve even used one as a super pretty plant pot.

Today I shall be showing you how to create your own Crochet Nesting Baskets with an easy to follow tutorial. I shall be also walking you through the written pattern step-by-step, so if you want to improve your pattern reading skills, this is perfect for you!

The Yarn

The yarn I shall be using today is Lily Sugar ‘n Cream in the shade Potpourri. Lily Sugar ‘n Cream Original is a worsted weight yarn which comes in a 400g cone. It is made in Canada and is 100% USA Cotton. This particular pattern is created using 2 strand of yarn together which creates a sturdy basket. I love the quality of this yarn and I especially love the Pink, Purple and Teal flecks of colour my chosen shade Potpourri has to offer.

Check out Lily Sugar ‘n Cream and the ranges they have to offer HERE.

The Materials & Pattern Details

You will also need:

  • Darning needle
  • Embroidery Scissors

Unsure of the differences between UK and US terms? Need a refresher on how to do your stitches? In my ‘How to crochet: A handy reference guild’ EBook I help you with all of these terms and you can always have them to hand! You will also get exclusive access to free video instructions. You can find my EBook HERE.

The Pattern

The FREE pattern for these Crochet Nesting Baskets can be found HERE. I would highly recommend that you download and print out the pattern in order to follow along with the tutorial. The pattern is written in US terms and I will be working in UK terms. Please don’t let this put you off! It’s really handy to get to grips with both sets of terminology as it can help you out a lot in the future. I would suggest that you highlight any changes in terminology to help you through. I will also be pointing out the differences throughout the tutorial.

    • Hi Connie. As the pattern is downloaded via the Yarnspirations website, I would suggest that you contact them for support as I do not have access to their database. Thanks.

  2. These are so cute! Yet another project to add to the list 🙂 Do you think they would wash well? I’m just thinking I could do some to have in my kitchen on my new shelves (when I eventually get them in) as part of the pretty, just for display type area. May also do some for the small one for her little trinkets and hair bits and bobs.

    • Hi thank you for your comments, this is a cotton yarn so this can be machined washed on a cool setting as per the instructions on the yarn. 🙂
