Are subscription boxes your thing? I personally love them. They bring a lovely feeling of excitement when they drop on your doorstep and you open it up to reveal the squishy goodness inside. I recently had the pleasure of taking a look at The Great British Textile Box from Three Bears Yarn and I wanted to share it with you today.
I first heard of Three Bears Yarn a few years ago when we were both involved in a charity campaign for Homestart (can any of you remember me teaching Kirstie Allsopp how to crochet?!) I love the fact that they are a family run dyeing business which was founded in 1915. They are also one of only 110 manufacturers in the UK which are and accredited Living Wage Foundation employer.
What is The Great British Textile Box?
The Great British Textile Box is a monthly subscription box containing 200g of top quality yarn which is spun, dyed and produced in Yorkshire and Lancashire. It comes with a crochet pattern which is written in both UK and US terms giving you the option to choose your preference.
In my box I received 2 shades of soft British Falkland Marino wool which was spun in Yorkshire and made then dyed in Lancashire at the home of Three Bears Yarn, Blackburn Yarn Dyers. If you ever wondered how wool was made, check out this video here. You get enough wool to make the beautiful ‘Hannah Hat and Gauntlets’ which was designed by Jacinta Bowie. All of the wool is dyed for each box to the designers request.
The pattern comes in a easy to read booklet which is well laid out. It contains a diagram in this pattern to help you out if you find that easier and it comes in US and UK terms as previously mentioned. There is also a tutorial on the Three Bears Yarn YouTube channel to go with each box.
Would you like to try it out?
If you want to get the hands on Decembers box, you can expect to find a 4ply Bluefaced Leicester/ Masham blend yarn in Duckegg and Grey to make a beautiful cushion cover! Sounds gorgeous. Then in January the box is going to contain everything you need to make a Coral shawl. Click HERE to subscribe.
I also have a SPECIAL introductory offer for you too! Yipee! You can get 15% off your first box by using code BYD15
I’d love to know if you have tried this out and what your thoughts are! Leave a comment below and don’t forget to say hello to the guys at Three Bears Yarn!
